HBT - High-Speed BER Tester
The HBT high-speed BER tester is a Bit Error Rate tester for evaluating the performance of synchronous modems and other DCEs. HBT high-speed BER tester operates at data rates from 32 kbps to 2.048 Mbps, including 1.544 Mbps, and support all n x 56 kbps and n x 64 kbps data rates. Simple to use, the HBT high-speed BER tester performs a loop test, comparing the transmitted and received pattern. A detachable external power supply powers the handheld unit.
The HBT high-speed bit error rate tester is a hand-held unit for testing synchronous modems and other DCEs. It operates at data rates from 32 kbps to 2.048 Mbps (including 1.544 Mbps).
Six interfaces are supported: V.35, X.21, RS-530, V.24/RS-232, and G.703 (codirectional 64 kbps, 1.544 Mbps and 2.048 Mbps). Interfaces are easily interchanged using field-replaceable modules.
The HBT high-speed bit error rate tester supports several test patterns:
- 511 pseudo-random
- 2047 pseudo-random
- seven spaces, one mark
- seven marks, one space
- alternate one space, one mark
When testing a DCE, the HBT high-speed BER tester sends a pattern and receives information, which in some cases is its own pattern, via loopback. The HBT high-speed BER tester compares the received data with the known pattern and presents the results on an LCD display, counting bit errors, sync loss, block errors, and error-seconds.
The HBT high-speed bit error rate tester also features an inject error button for checking the tester and the line by introducing errors in the transmitted data stream. The HBT high-speed bit error rate tester is compatible with other devices that comply with the ITU V.52 standard.
The HBT high-speed bit error rate tester supports block sizes of 512 bits, 1,000 bits, 1,024 bits, 2,048 bits or 10 kbits. They generate their own clock from an internal oscillator or can accept a clock from the DCE.
This compact unit comes complete with a detachable power supply and cord. Setup and operation are performed via the front panel and an LCD display.
