SS7 Gateway
The SS7 signaling protocol has been utilized for years as a worldwide standard for interfacing the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) over a digital signaling network for call setup, routing, and control. Internationally it is known as the C7 signaling protocol. There are two main variants dedicated to keeping worldwide standards which include ANSI (American National Standards Institute) for the North American standard and ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) for the European standard. With the worldwide proliferation and acceptance of H.323 and SIP replacing traditional telephony foundations such as Analog, E1, T1, E3, T3, OC3 and STM-1 communications links, the need to migrate and convert between these protocols and interfaces is required.
