Description
  • The STM high speed statistical multiplexers, integrate up to 24 asynchronous channels onto a single synchronous link. Three models are available:
    • STM - 8 with 8 asynchronous channels
    • STM - 16 with 16 asynchronous channels
    • STM - 24 with 24 asynchronous channels.
  • The channel data rates are from 75 bps up to 19.2 kbps. The synchronous composite link operates at up to 64 kbps and has four selectable interfaces:
    • V.24/RS-232
    • V.35
    • X.21
    • RS-530.
  • Powerful error detection and automatic retransmission ensures error free performance.
  • The STMs feature independent hard and soft flow control for each channel. End-to-end flow control can be initiated from DTE to DTE or from the STM channel to the remote DTE. Several characters for X-ON and X-OFF are provided, enabling compatibility with most applications.
  • Any sub-channel can be used as a command port to configure the entire system or to perform diagnostic tests. Password secured access prevents unauthorized alteration of the system configuration.
  • The STMs feature permanent storage of the user-programmed system configuration, using non-volatile memory and downloading of the configuration parameters.
  • Comprehensive diagnostic capabilities provide local and remote loopbacks on the sub-channels or on the composite channel, as well as testing of the modems between two STM units.
  • The STMs are designed for desktop or 19" rack installation. Sub-channel connections are made via RJ-45 connectors located on the front panel.
  • The STMs can be connected to RAD's APS and SPS packet switching products for expanding the number of async channels in PAD/FRAD applications
